What to pack for baby??
For Baby
Hospitals should for the most part provide you with diapers, wipes, bulb syringes, and baby blankets to use during your stay there, but sometimes we get requests from parents that seem like we should provide them, but we don’t. I’ll go over a couple of those things down below.
1. Clothing:
Onesies: Pack a few in different sizes, as you don’t know how big your baby will be.
Socks and Mittens: To keep their little hands and feet warm and sometimes the babies are born with sharp long nails. The mittens will help prevent scratching up their cute little faces. If you don’t have mittens, socks work just the same!!!
Going-Home Outfit: Choose something special for the journey home.
Hat: Newborns can lose heat quickly. These are usually hit or miss. The hats are usually too big and fall of the babies head, but no worries. . their heads will grow into their hats in no time!!! The hospitals should provide you with fitting baby hats for your stay.
Make sure to wash everyting first: Maybe this is just personal preference, but you’ll be thankful when you smell your baby in his/her clean baby smelling clothes!!! You won’t stop!! ;)
2. Essentials:
Blankets: Soft, cozy blankets for swaddling and warmth.
Diapers: The hospital will provide some, but having a few extras doesn’t hurt.
Wipes: For those first diaper changes.
Don’t forget to wash these too!!!
3. Feeding Supplies:
Bottles and Formula: If you’re not breastfeeding, pack the brand you plan to use and bring it with you.
Nursing Pillow: If you’re breastfeeding, it can help make feeding more comfortable.
Breast pump: If you have a new breast pump and you’re unsure of how to use it, bring it in!! We are always there to help you figure things out!!
Final Tips
Start Packing Early: Aim to have your bag ready by the time you’re about 35-36 weeks pregnant.
Check with Your Hospital: Some hospitals provide certain items, so it’s worth checking what they offer to avoid overpacking.
Label Your Bags: Ensure your bags are easily identifiable, especially if you’ll be carrying multiple.
Packing your hospital bag is a personal experience, and your needs might differ. The key is to pack what makes you feel comfortable and prepared. With this guide, you’ll have a solid foundation to build upon, ensuring you’re ready for your baby’s arrival. Enjoy these last moments of preparation, and best of luck on your new journey into motherhood!!
